The Modern SMS API
Integrate Somtel SMS directly into your own systems with a simple HTTP API.
Widest network coverage
No hidden charges
24/7 customer care
Messaging your systems can call
The Somtel SMS API lets your own software send messages directly. Where Mysms is a dashboard your staff log into, the API is an endpoint your application calls - so a confirmation SMS can fire the moment an order is placed, with nobody touching a screen.

Keys, docs and a sandbox
Everything a developer needs sits in the business portal. Create an account, generate keys and call the API from your own system — order confirmations, one-time passcodes, delivery alerts, whatever your software already knows it needs to say.
Your own API keys
Generate and rotate them yourself, without waiting on anyone.
Bulk SMS API v2
The current version, built for systems that send continuously rather than in batches.
USSD as well
Menu-based services over USSD, for customers whose handsets are not smartphones.
Usage you can see
What you sent, what was delivered and what it cost, in one place.
Good to know
The detail, in short
How it works
Authenticate with the API key issued to your account, then send a standard HTTPS request carrying the destination number, your sender ID and the message text. The response confirms acceptance, and a delivery receipt follows when the handset receives it. High-volume senders can connect over SMPP instead.
Requirements
You will need a registered Somtel enterprise account, a sender ID, and a server able to make outbound HTTPS requests. Our team issues credentials once your account is approved.
